Pregnancy is the time when the biggest changes in body posture take
place, and the time when women are most conscious of the functions of their body.

For many women, pregnancy also means having to cope with a whole scope of problems, from backaches to morning nausea.

The baby, growing inside the mother's womb, causes the centre of mass to move forward, which significantly puts pressure on the lower part of the back. The increase of breast weight brings about changes in the higher part of the back, which may result in pain in between the shoulder blades and in the cervical part of the backbone.

OsteoMed therapists help women in the pregnancy and postnatal periods to minimize pain and other symptoms connected with the increase in weight and changes in posture.

Of course, the safety of the mother and child always comes first. That is why the therapist carries out a detailed questioning and examination, considering the woman's emotional state. The therapist then uses very delicate techniques to minimize the problems and indicates how to care for the body in the time of pregnancy, in a way not to increase strains. He/she also prescribes exercises to do at home.

Easing pressure often results in diminishing other side effects of pregnancy such as heartburn, indigestion, constipation, morning nausea or pain of the sciatica type.

The therapist may also show ways of easing pain and indicate the best position for delivery.

It is recommended for the woman to repeat the examination of locomotor functions after having given birth.
