What are locomotor dysfunctions?
These are disorders in the proper functioning of locomotor tissues, that:
- May occur to everyone, at every age (children, adults and the elderly), and at every level of overall body fitness (both to sportsmen and to those who are not physically active).
- Occur very often and are the cause of the majority of experienced symptoms. 80% of all problems result from functional disorders, while only 20% from organic diseases or structural changes.
- Cause muscles to become tight
- Cause pain and other symptoms in all areas of the body.
- From a clinical point of view, are very similar to organic illnesses of any medical speciality (among others: neurology, orthopaedics, laryngology, ginecology, GP).
- Are quite difficult to differentiate from organic illnesses because the symptoms of functional or organic origin are very similar.
- Do not disappear in spite of standard treatment.
- The causes of the symptoms experienced are not found in objective medical examinations.
- Are an indication for Functional Therapy, after having eliminated organic illness as a cause of pain or other symptoms.
